SkyDrive, A Commercial Flying Car Gets its First Private Customer

Suzuki Motor Corporation, in collaboration with SkyDrive Inc., has begun manufacturing flying cars in a Suzuki-owned manufacturing plant in Iwata City Japan. This facility is capable of producing 100 electric in the future vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flying cars a year.

In October 2021, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) accepted SkyDrive’s application for type certification for commercial aircraft. We are now pursuing a certification of compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Kotaro Chiba, a licensed pilot who was the first owner of a HondaJet in the world.

“I’ll be the first owner of SkyDrive SD-05,” Chiba, who is also an investor in the Tokyo-based firm, said in a Twitter post on Thursday. “Japan’s skies will be free with SkyDrive.”

Chiba is the co-founder and managing partner of a drone-focused venture capital firm.
